From Shadow to Light
People looked only towards the bright and shiny things,
Maybe this is life as it should be?
Or maybe they forgot or just overlooked,
Why is this?
But they completely overlooked a shadow,
A dark spot in the corner,
Invisible.
Nothing…. nothingness, he called himself,
He called out but no one could see or hear,
It was futile, no help,
Not even a speck of light crossed him,
Just a forgotten shadow,
Dark and unseen,
Unheard human.
Until one day, light revealed a part of his face,
Humans looked in disgust,
He tried only to scare and repulse,
Every time someone passed by,
So he crawled back to his corner,
Dark and rejected,
Sad, unseen,
Wishing to at least feel some type of light upon his face,
Just the warmth alone would give him strength to live,
Even in this dark, silent corner.
Days turned into months,
Years turned into decades,
And solitude made him feel weak,
Forgotten, lost to the world,
Nothing…
One day, someone saw him,
Smiled at him, but why? And how, he thought.
So that shadow revealed a part of his face,
Just to get a small glimpse of this human,
With a smile so bright it hurt his eyes,
Nothing.
The smile remained.
For the first time in his life,
That shadow, that nothing,
The unseen, unheard,
Became a smile.
That smile turned into a person,
A laugh was heard,
And life shined upon him,
Giving him warmth, strength, love…
That shadow, that nothing,
The unseen, the unheard,
Became visible,
Only to shine life upon people.
And it all started in complete darkness,
As a shadow, a dark corner,
Nothing.
A smile, a laugh,
A little bit of light,
And his voice was heard…
No longer nothingness.
